The foyer is for the public
Come in, take a seat, read, get creative, have a chat, discover cultural projects. A space open to all, every day.
The Foyer is a space open to everyone, with no obligation to buy anything: a place to read, work, meet up or simply wait for a film to start. A covered square in the heart of Locarno, designed as a public space rather than merely a foyer for the cinema.
The PalaCinema Foyer Public is an accessible and welcoming space on the ground floor, open to everyone with no obligation to purchase food or drinks.
Conceived as a “third space” — neither home nor workplace — it is open daily to the city, to those who live here, to local communities and to visitors. Its origin is architectural and cultural: it occupies part of the ground floor as a natural extension of Piazza Remo Rossi within the building. With a high ceiling and large windows, it creates a lively, open environment where the acoustics recall those of a square.
What does the Foyer Public offer?
You can learn, work, spend time and make connections in a place that allows you to immerse yourself in audiovisual culture. The library offers books and magazines on the film industry — from Cinébulletin and Cinéforum to the catalogues of the Locarno Film Festival and Artforum. For a meal or a drink, the Bistrot PalaCinema is just steps away, on the same floor.
