Ticino Film Commission

Centre of expertise and promotion for film and audiovisual production in general in Italian-speaking Switzerland

The Ticino Film Commission supports film and audiovisual production in Ticino and promotes the region as a filming location. It is a not-for-profit foundation, established in 2014 thanks to public funding from the Department of Finance and Economy of the Republic and Canton of Ticino and from SECO as part of the New Regional Policy (NRP). Its founding members are Ticino Turismo, the Locarno Film Festival, the Ticino Film and Audiovisual Association (AFAT), and the Italian-speaking Switzerland Directors’ and Screenwriters’ Group (GRSI of ARF/FDS). In addition to the Canton of Ticino, the main financial supporters are Banca Stato, Ticino Turismo and the Regional Tourism Organisations of the Canton of Ticino.

Thanks to an enthusiastic and skilled team, it attracts and supports audiovisual productions capable of showcasing the region’s cultural, scenic and historical heritage, thereby increasing its visibility whilst creating new job opportunities and growth for local professionals. Furthermore, the TFC supports the local film and audiovisual industry through incentives dedicated to development and distribution, creating opportunities for networking, exchange and training for industry professionals.

Based on specific regulations, the TFC offers advice and financial, logistical and organisational support to audiovisual productions wishing to operate in the region, identifying and proposing various types of locations, promoting local service providers and facilitating contacts with public and private bodies for the granting of authorisations, permits and incentives.

More than 10 years after its inception, the TFC has become the centre of expertise for audiovisual production in Italian-speaking Switzerland and is now an indispensable link in the regional and national film industry chain.
